Invoice international clients from Nigeria or Kenya
How to invoice international clients from Nigeria or Kenya, receive USD/GBP/EUR without losing money on exchange rates, and handle the tax implications.
Open a USD receiving account: Grey, Geegpay, or Wise Business gives you a US bank account number for incoming wires and ACH transfers.
Set up invoicing in Wave Accounting (free) or FreshBooks. Set your billing currency to USD, GBP, or EUR as required.
Create a professional invoice template with your company name, payment details (your USD account), and Net 15 or Net 30 payment terms.
For EU clients: include your Wise IBAN and specify ‘Consulting Services’ or the relevant service as your line item description.
Send the invoice and follow up on day 14 if unpaid using Wave’s automated reminder.
After payment arrives: convert via your Grey or Wise account at near-interbank rates, then transfer to your local bank.
Retain records of all invoices, bank statements, and conversion receipts for FIRS (Nigeria) or KRA (Kenya) compliance.
