Cap table management and equity administration for startups
Carta is the industry-standard cap table management and equity administration platform. Manage your cap table, model dilution, issue SAFEs and stock options, and handle investor reporting all in one place. Free for early-stage startups with under $1M raised. Used by 40,000+ companies including most YC alumni.
Use when
You have multiple SAFEs or investors on your cap table and need a professional tool to model dilution, issue equity, and run investor reports.
Skip when
You have fewer than 3 investors and no option pool. A clean Google Sheet handles that perfectly and a lawyer can help you migrate to Carta when the time comes.
Fully accessible to African founders with US entities (Delaware C-Corps). For Nigerian or Kenyan-incorporated companies, a simple Google Sheet cap table is fine until you raise a Series A, at which point Carta becomes standard.
