Free open-source store on top of WordPress
An open-source e-commerce plugin turning a WordPress site into a full online store with products, checkout and shipping.
Use when
You want a store with no monthly platform fee and are willing to maintain WordPress.
Skip when
You do not want to manage hosting, updates and security yourself.
The plugin is free and there are no per-sale platform fees, which is the decisive difference from Shopify's monthly subscription when your margins are thin. Paystack and Flutterwave both publish official WooCommerce plugins, so local card and transfer payments work without custom development. You are responsible for hosting, updates and security - pair it with Whogohost or Truehost for local billing.
