What Nigerian companies actually pay, by role and level
Salary Index is a Nigerian salary transparency and benchmarking platform holding roughly 1,370 published salaries across every major industry, location and job role. Every figure is normalised to one comparable monthly number, so a gross package, a net package and a dollar-paid remote role can be read side by side. Roles are classified by function, seniority, industry, location and company type rather than by job title, on a level ladder running from graduate trainee (L2) to C-level (L13), which keeps a software engineer and a sales engineer out of the same average. Each entry is labelled by how it reached the site: verified against a payslip, offer letter, work email or LinkedIn profile; self reported through an anonymous submission; taken from a published compensation report or article; pulled from a company's own careers page; supplied by a vetted industry expert; or reported directly by the company. A company is named beside a figure only where that company has already disclosed the pay publicly, so most rows show the industry instead. You can filter by job function, level, industry, year, state, company, company type, currency, company HQ and data source. Free to read with no account. Built by Afolabi Sokeye and funded by on-site advertising.
Use when
You are setting a salary band for a Nigerian hire and want a reference point other than what the last candidate asked for, or you are about to make an offer and want to know whether it is competitive for that role, level, industry and state. Useful too when a report asks for a raise and you need to check the claim against something.
Skip when
You are hiring outside Nigeria, or you need a large sample for a narrow role. At roughly 1,370 entries the dataset thins out quickly once you filter hard on function, level and location at once, and self-reported rows sit alongside verified ones, so a single row is a data point rather than a benchmark. Read the source label on every figure before you price an offer off it.
Checked 1 Oct 2026: about 1,370 salaries live, browsable free and without an account. Pay is shown monthly, in naira or dollars, net or gross as labelled, and the source label on each row tells you how much weight it carries. Nigeria only; there is no pan-African equivalent, which is the gap founders hiring across markets will still feel. Advertising is the business model, quoted at 1,000 naira per day with a seven-day minimum for a 600 by 600 image, and the site claims a reach of 16,000+ professionals. If that holds it is among the cheapest ways to put a role in front of Nigerian professionals who are already comparing pay.
