You need credits that last beyond a year, or you are counting on the six-figure tier without investor backing. Unlocking is progressive and tied to demonstrated usage, so the headline number is not what you start with.
Status (21 Sep 2026): open continuously via Founders Hub. Around US$1,000 at the self-serve entry point, with a $5,000 tier available to most startups and $100,000 to $150,000 reserved for companies backed by a recognised VC or accelerator. Includes GitHub Enterprise, Microsoft 365 and Azure OpenAI access. No equity is taken. Credits expire 12 months after issue and are not extended.
